National Kids to Parks Day

Just what is National Kids to Parks Day, anyway? Simply put, every family in America is invited to attend a local park, state park, or national park and play the day away! Many areas are hosting special events and, in fact, all 35 Virginia State Parks are hosting special events! You can also go to www.kidstoparks.org and pledge to go to a park with your family on May 19th. Pretty cool!

Easy Hot Fudge Chocolate Ice Cream Cake


My daughter begged for an ice cream cake this year for her birthday. My first thought was to hit Baskin Robbins but then she said she wanted hot fudge on it! So I whipped up this super easy Hot Fudge Chocolate Ice Cream Cake!

Here's what you will need:
Ice Cream in a rectangular box package
Cake
Bottle of store bought Hot Fudge

Marshmallow Shooter Craft

This is a really simple craft that leaves your mini macaroni with a fun toy to enjoy after! It's a marshmallow/pom pom shooter!

What you need:
2 plastic cups
1 balloon
scissors
marshmallows and/or pom poms


What you do:
Stack the 2 plastic cups and cut them about a third of the way down. (I used 2 for sturdiness. If you have a surdier cup, one will probably do)


Tie your balloon and cut the (non-tied) end.

Friday, May 18 - Pump It Up Pop In Playtime Pre-K

Promote social development and physical fitness while bouncing, sliding, climbing, and jumping at Pump It Up! Come and play on our giant, soft, fun filled, interactive inflatibles during Pump It Up Pop-In Playtime.

Created especially for the little ones, Kids Ahoy! encourages learning through fun activities each and every Saturday. Saturday, May 19 - The Art Spot

Every Saturday the Museum offers a drop in art program from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00p.m. Experience your child’s creativity by exploring the galleries together and then create an art project in our classroom.   The art projects are self-guided and the gallery related monthly themes offer a different art activity each week.
Where: Tampa Museum of Art, 120 W. Gasparilla Plaza, Tampa, FL  33602 (Curtis Hixon Park is located right outside the museum.)
When: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

How: No registration required.
Cost: Admission to the activity is free. Participants enter the classroom from the exterior entrance until the museum is open.  Regular admission costs apply to view the galleries.
